Touchland Power Mist Hydrating Hand Sanitizer Review:
The Hand Sanitizer That Thinks It’s a Fragrance
I bought the Touchland Power Mist Hydrating Hand Sanitizer after seeing it all over Sephora and thinking, “Why are we making hand sanitizer…cute?” Naturally, I bought it anyway.
First impressions
At around $10 a pop, this is definitely “fancy sanitizer” territory. I usually grab whatever is closest to the checkout line and under five bucks, so putting this in my basket felt a little indulgent. But with thousands of reviews and an impressive rating hovering above 4 stars, I was curious enough to justify the experiment.
It’s a spray, not a gel, which I actually ended up loving. One or two mists and you’re covered—no weird clumps, no puddle of cold goo in your palm, no sticky aftermath.
Scent: somewhere between perfume and “whoa, calm down”
Touchland clearly leans hard into fragrance. Some reviewers basically use it as a makeshift perfume, and I get it—the scent lingers. I tried one of the fruitier options, and it definitely smelled more like a body spray than a typical sanitizer. On the upside, my hands smelled “so good” according to a very honest teenager in my life, which I count as a win.
That said, I can also see why a few people said it’s “too perfumey,” “smelly,” or that some scents have a “somewhat bad smell” or feel “fake-fruit” adjacent. If you’re sensitive to strong or artificial scents, I’d tread carefully here. Based on the other reviews, the lavender version seems to be the safest bet for scent-sensitive noses—described as more balanced and less aggressively perfumey.
Hydration & feel
This is where Touchland actually earned its keep. Unlike the usual alcohol-heavy suspects that leave my hands feeling like I’ve sandpapered them, this really does feel less drying. A couple of reviewers mentioned a “layer of slight hydration” and that it’s “not overpowering” or drying, and that matches my experience. My hands didn’t feel tight or chalky right after using it, which is usually my gripe with sanitizers.
Is it a replacement for hand cream? No. But for something whose main job is to murder germs, it’s surprisingly kind to skin.
Everyday use
This is the kind of thing you end up using more just because it’s fun. The act of misting feels weirdly satisfying, and I reached for it constantly in the car, at my desk, and definitely in public places where I did not want to touch anything twice.
It’s also a great “little gift” item. One reviewer nailed it calling it a great stocking stuffer or birthday add-on. It’s the sort of thing that looks more expensive than it is and feels a bit luxe for something as utilitarian as sanitizer.
The downsides
- Price: Let’s be honest: it’s expensive for hand sanitizer. Several reviewers called that out, and they’re not wrong. You’re paying for the experience—scent, packaging, “fun to use” factor—not just functionality.
- Scent roulette: With so many variants, the experience seems to depend heavily on which one you choose. Some people adore the scents (“SO GOOD,” “staple in my routine”), while others say they’d only use theirs as a “last resort.” If you hate fake-fruity or heavy perfume, choose wisely.
- Not for the ultra-fragrance-averse: Even the nicer scents have presence. If your ideal sanitizer is “smells like nothing and disappears,” this is not that.
Final verdict
Touchland’s Power Mist Hydrating Hand Sanitizer is basically the influencer of sanitizers: good-looking, a little extra, and surprisingly effective once you get past the aesthetic. It does what it’s supposed to do, feels less drying than the usual drugstore options, and makes sanitizing your hands feel oddly enjoyable.
Is it a necessity? Absolutely not. Is it a delightful, slightly bougie upgrade that I’ll keep in my purse and happily re-buy in my favorite scent? Yes.
If you:
- like scented products,
- want a less-drying sanitizer,
- and don’t mind paying a premium for something you’ll use constantly,
then this is a strong yes.
If you:
- are sensitive to fragrance,
- or think $10 sanitizer is a crime against common sense,
you’ll probably roll your eyes and stick with the basics.
Personally? I’m already eyeing another scent. For “research,” of course.
